Reduced CO2 emissions and less maintenance as key benefits
Our Chinese customer Changzhou Zhongheng (Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province) have been using their film stretching line GOL to produce high-quality BOPET packaging film since 2005. In order to be able to continue operating the 20-year-old production line for another 20 years in the future, they have recently invested in a modernization of the system oven and its ventilation.
Faced with the challenge that the film stretching line was being operated increasingly inefficiently compared to today's plant standards, Brückner’s support was requested. High CO2 emissions increased operating costs and environmental impact, and old oil supply pipes, valves, temperature sensors and broken cables jeopardized production safety.
Therefore the aim of the upgrade was to reduce CO2 emissions, for which Brueckner Group China, on behalf of Brückner Servtec, provided a solution: replacing the oil heating coils of the transverse direction orientation (TDO) and outdoor ventilation with modern, electric heating coils which require less maintenance.
Thanks to Brueckner Group China's proximity to the Chinese customer, the upgrade was carried out directly by the colleagues on site. This not only saved considerable time and costs, but also had the advantage that coordination could be carried out directly in the same language - true to our core value "think global, act local".
In addition to replacing the old fossil-fueled oil heating registers, Changzhou Zhongheng carried out cleaning work within the TDO and other mechanical improvements before the common line re-start.
Wang Yuan, project manager at Changzhou Zhongheng, was more than satisfied with the upgrading results and stated: “We decided to do this upgrading with Brueckner as OEM-supplier of our production line and have to say that we have never regretted this decision. Brueckner supported and guided us from the very beginning to the end and the high level of professionalism and in-depth knowledge of the technical team sent by Brueckner Group China was very impressive”.
Project manager Erik Herold particularly emphasizes the good coordination and independent work execution of the Chinese colleagues, who implemented everything on site to the customer’s full satisfaction: "We really have top colleagues who act quickly and flexibly for the customer and us at all times and are therefore a valuable support for our Brückner Servtec team - a big thumbs up!”.
The successful conversion to electric heating registers has shown how important continuous improvements are for the long-term efficiency and reliability of film stretching systems. By reducing CO2 emissions, a more environmentally friendly operation is now possible, and Changzhou Zhongheng can be sure that their plant will continue to run optimally in the upcoming years.
